From July 30 to August 1, 2025, the administrators and lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), led by Asst. Prof. Kittipong Riabroi, M.D., M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Health and National Medical Services of the Kingdom of Bhutan. They also made official visits to the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH), Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan, and held a meeting with Bhutanese medical alumni.
The visit involved several productive discussions and exchanges on topics such as Bhutan’s health care system and health policies, medical and diagnostic services, patient care systems, clinical and medical education, and training programs. Also, providing a special lecture on ECMO initiation to the ICU team of JDWNRH hospital.
Both sides explored opportunities for future collaboration, focusing on capacity building for health professionals, joint clinical and health service initiatives, clinical training, including academic exchanges.
Additionally, the PSU delegation had the opportunity to reconnect with Bhutanese alumni who had graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, PSU. This was the first official meeting since their graduation. The purposes were to follow up on their clinical work after completing their training at MedPSU, discuss on potential future applicants, expected outcomes, and explore ways MedPSU could develop and continue to provide support.
